New Year!

Posted on Sat Dec 31st, 2011 @ 12:57pm by Rear Admiral Relau Chlan (Ret.)

Greetings all,

For some of you it has already come, for some of you it has yet to arrive, but I must take this time and say thank you to each and every one of you for your work you have done on the simm this year. This year was a tumultuous one, to say the least, and I'll detail that in my "State of the Shanghai" report that I'll finish later this evening.

In any case, I wanted to make you all aware of a few things. First of all, we are officially out of Obsidian Fleet and their grasp. We are now independent and will make the most out of it. This has also lead to a 318% increase in site traffic, partly as well because of advertising. It's a great time to be on the Shanghai, folks.

We have also completed and updated the changes to the "Pulsar2" skin, which if you would like to have that set as your site options, then you can access it from the User -> Site Options tab on the right hand side.

In any case, I must also take this time to let you know that my activity will be spotty at best the next few days. I am moving up to college for my junior year beginning this next week, and it invariably comes down to some sort of problem. The internet isn't working. The school blocks the website. The internet isn't hooked up. I'm not hooked up. It's all a big tragic circle, but I am confident that I will be able to find time to update a few posts.

As always, if I am going to be away for more than 72 hours, I will notify you, and Nathaniel (Captain Sun) and Jools (Commander Hart) are always willing to help you if you need anything.

And one more notice, we do have a new character on the manifest. I'd like to thank Jordan for taking the position of Webmaster for the Shanghai. Normally I do it myself, but this time around there were a few glitches that I couldn't get done right. In any case please be aware that his character, while on the manifest is NON-POSTING. Please do not try and get joint posts from him, he is strictly our webmaster and is not a playing member on the simm. Likewise, if you have problems with the website, you can let him know, but I'd prefer it if you let me know in the same PM or email as well, since we are working on it together.

As always, we wish you a great and wonderful New Years. From the Command Staff on the Shanghai-A, we wish this to you from the bottom of our hearts and want you to know that we are here for you if you need anything. Please, let us help you out in this new year, because teamwork makes the dream work.

Happy New Year,

Your Shanghai-A Command Staff
