Greetings everyone!

So after hearing back from a few people, this is going to be a good run. We've heard back from a few people and we'll get to each play a lot of NPCs, but we'll be having fun, which matters.

Nathaniel and I would like to give you our backstory. It only covers Relau's situation in particular, but gives a good backstory for anyone. We'll get a post started here shortly asking for your backstories so that we can move forward. Please read what happened to the USS Shanghai.

Fast forward -

It's been over two and a half years since the USS Shanghai has been in service. After a catastrophic test of the slipstream engines involving a plasma storm, coupled with a structural integrity flaw, the Shanghai was sidelined, undergoing repairs. Starfleet decided to keep the Vesta class in service because of its relatively new design and build. Its crewmembers didn't fare as well.

Pushed out of the Captain's chair, Relau was forced from one dead end job to another, eventually as the System Transportation Director for Starfleet in the former Neural Zone, now renamed the Demilitarized Default Demarcation Zone, or D3 Zone, as it was commonly referred to. This zone became such after the Hobus Supernova which destroyed Romulus. Now on the heels of the reorganization of the Romulan government, there are already rumors, political intrigue and threats being traded between Vulcan and New Romulus. The political system is in turmoil, as evidenced by the recent Court Martial and dismissal of Commodore Dev Taylor, interim commander of Starfleet's rapid deployment fleet (21st Fleet, Independent Expeditionary Force) for high treason, for violation of Starfleet General Order 19.

Seeking a swift end to the problems plaguing the system, Starfleet has once again reached out to Rear Admiral Relau Chlan for help, returning him to his original vessel, the USS Shanghai. With him, Starfleet has tried to enable an easier transition, especially trying to bring a few old colleagues back.

Some are coming from the far reaches of space, others have had radical life changes and some aren't even in Starfleet any more. With this ecletic crew, the USS Shanghai must navigate through all of the dangerous waters that this new landscape gives them. What will you do?

So ladies and gentlemen, we are going to work on the posts, I'll knock out more of my personal backstory and we'll meet up on the repaird Shanghai.

I look forward to simming with you once again.

Relau Chlan, CO
