Changes to the Websites!

Posted on Tue Aug 28th, 2012 @ 4:13pm by Rear Admiral Relau Chlan (Ret.)

Greetings all!

I've hinted at this on the chat, but I wanted to really make it public. First of all, I'm extremely pleased with the quality of posts that we are seeing from everyone. It seems that there's alot of people who really are enjoying the Shanghai and the posts that we are having. I appreciate the time and effort put into that.

So, I'd like to let you all know of a few things that we'll be changing within the next few months.

First, I will be working on a new skin and redesign for the website. While we can't change the Nova system itself, I will be working on brushing up on my CSS coding and working to get a new skin up and running. I plan to debut this on April 12th, 2013, the 4 year anniversary of the Shanghai. Coincidentally, I will graduate from college on that day as well. What a day! I can't wait. I'm already in the process of designing the layout, and I'm sure that it will be a great addition to the crew.

Second, I'll also work on revamping the awards and making them more personalized (since we still have Obsidian Fleet awards up - *cough*) to the Shanghai. The ETA on this is January 1, 2013.

In addition, I also updated the Rules a few days back to make use of our Open Door Policy (Policy 1) and added in a few rules. New rule 1 and an addition to 8 as well.

Users might also notice extremely shortly a new link in the sidebar under the "Admin Control Panel". This link, labeled "Blog" will be linked to the Shanghai Blog! Portions of it are still under construction so that we can change some things, but the majority of the website is up and running. It will have some new things that I think everyone will be interested in.

First, at the Command Level we chat a lot about missions and the need to get more crew participation in this. We have a tab dedicated to Missions and your thoughts on those. If you have thoughts, they will be added to the main posts. You can go ahead and comment on the post and get a discussion going on what you think would work. Final mission decisions still lie with the Command Staff though, so just keep that in mind.

Second, you remember those graphics changes that I mentioned earlier? We have a tab dedicated to that. It's the "Graphics" tab at the top. Any comments that you have on that would be much appreciated. I'm looking forward to those comments.

Third, everyone can register for the website, but to avoid spam users and the like your first comment will be sent to myself for moderation. If you register with another username than your name and rank here, just let me know in the comment who it's from.

If you have questions or comments on that, you are more than welcome to drop any member of the Command Staff a line to ask to your heart's desire.

The direct link for the blog is here:

Happy Posting!
