Physical Description Like most others of his people, Rana is on the short side, at least compared to other species. He’s reached his full height at 5’6, which is just about average for an Akadain. At the time that he is found he’s a little underweight at 120 pounds, but not a great deal under. He would normally weigh about 130 pounds

His hair is a dirty blond which lightens considerably during the summer or when he is exposed to a lot of sun. His eyes, which are larger than humans and have the appearance of a Terran feline are an azure blue, like a cloudless sky on a Summer day.

He’s used to wearing animal skins, so it will take him a while to develop a fashion style of his own.
Distinguishing Characteristics His eyes are larger than most humanoids and have a feral appearance like a Terran feline.

Personality & Traits

General Overview When discovered, Rana is a “wild child”. He is the lone survivor of a shuttlecraft crash, where his parents died immediately and his older brother who died about eight years ago. He has been without human companionship for four years. So, what social skills he did have, have deteriorated badly. The only language he knows is his native one and that he has barely used since his brother died.

He has some innate ability with ship’s systems, but only a very rudimentary amount of experience with them.

He has no filter and has difficulty recognizing social parameters. While normally a little shy, when he does speak out he’s liable to speak his mind to an admiral or telling someone he was attracted to them.

He has a very inquisitive mind.

Like most Akadians, he has strong mental abilities. He can read emotions and surface thoughts with ease. He can read deeper thoughts with some effort. However, he has no training in those abilities and doesn't understand when he should and should not use them. More importantly, he has a very limited mental shield or filter so it’s easy for him to be overwhelmed by the emotions of others. The more people there are around him, the more likely it is for him to be overwhelmed

He would if asked say he identifies as CIS gender. His orientation is a different matter. He doesn't know whom he’s attracted to and he has only the vaguest understanding of sex in the first place.

Strengths & Weaknesses Rana has a strong and independent spirit. He is calm under pressure and not much rattles him. He is also very good at hunting and other survival skills as well as hand to hand combat. He has an above-average intelligence and an almost eidetic memory. Those are all his strengths.

He’ll have to learn Federation Standard and even after he does so, difficulty with slang terms. He is not an introvert because he is intently curious, but he is somewhat socially awkward and he doesn’t get the social cues that most people take for granted. He’s not good with a phaser. Those are his weaknesses.

Though as time passes he will develop new strengths and weaknesses.

Ambitions Survival has been his primary ambition up until now, along with satisfying his curiosity. Now, he can focus on learning as much as he can, finding his career path, and from a personal standpoint, finding someone to love
Hobbies & Interests He enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, swimming, and reading. Since he has been rescued he has grown to love various holodeck programs almost to the point where he is becoming addicted.

Personal History

Personal History Janikriel was the Captain of an Akadian exploration vessel that at Warp Six was one of the fastest of the fleet. Barim was a diplomat assigned to her ship. She was a widow and not looking for another husband, nor was Barim looking for a wife. Yet, being in close contact and sharing in more than one dangerous mission, contributed to sparks flying and they became romantically involved and eventually became bondmates (were married)
Their firstborn was a boy they named Konral, four years later Rana came along.

Konral was the doting older brother, always looking out for Rana and protecting him. He was his mother’s son, cool, logical and even when he was very young he had a commanding personality, though he was a bit reserved. Both boys shared a superior intellect, though they expressed it in different ways. Konral was good at academics, skipping two grades during his first year of school and by the time he was eight, he was in the equivalent of the ancient Terran sixth-grade.

Rana, on the other hand, took more after his father, he was intuitive, more outgoing than his brother. He had a vocabulary beyond his years and was unafraid to carry on a conversation with anyone.

When Konral was nine and Rana was five Janikrel was given extended two-week leave. And they bought an Akadian equivalent to a Captain's Yacht. An unexpected ion storm drove them off course and severely damaged the small craft. Barim died during the storm and Konral and Rana’s mother managed to keep the ship together until they reached a small planetoid about the size of the old Terran North America state called New Mexico. It was the only Class M planet around.

She was able to bring the ship down, a crash landing, mostly in one piece, but died on impact, because she was flung herself over her two sons when a section of the roof was coming down on top of them.

Both boys were scared spitless and had to deal with the grief of losing both their parents. Konral took charge; sending out a distress signal trying to keep the replicator and life support systems online and everything else he knew to do. After the first year, the replicator was no longer functional, and they had only marginal power. The saving grace was that the small planet abounded in natural resources.

The summers were brief but blistering, the winters long and cruel, the other two seasons were always unpredictable. During the winter when Rana was nine and his brother was thirteen, Konral got lost in a blizzard and died, leaving the younger boy all by himself.

He grew up fast, he had to in order to survive, but he had no one to talk to but himself and some animals and he soon found that he was doing more imitating their speech than talking to himself, at least out loud. It was a lonely existence and he longed for the social interaction he had been used to. And while he never gave up his desire for it, he grew to forget what it was really like.

Until one day Klingon on a ship, looking for dilithium crystals landed on the planet and took the young boy captive. They would have killed him on the spot but decided instead to keep him alive more out of curiosity than anything else.

Medical History Rana is an Akadian. Like his very distant Vulcanoid cousins, he has copper-based blood, so he is subject to the same diseases they would be. He is slightly malnourished when he comes on board, but that should easily be remedied.

He is able to see at night as well as he can during the day.

He is smaller than most humans and has the strength of a moderately strong human female. On the other hand, he is more agile than most humans, with excellent hand-eye coordination.
