Apologies and Thanks

Mission: The Time That is Given Us
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current

Isabelle was awake and resting as the Sickbay doors opened to reveal the very man she wanted to see. She saw him pause as he looked around so she waved him over to her bed.

“How are you feeling?” Lt. Kennedy asked Veran.

"Lieutenant" She moved to sit up a little wincing a little as she was still left with some pain even though her wound was healed. "I didn't really get chance to thank you earlier. I'm just sorry I got myself hurt on your watch! It was careless of me."

He shook his head. “I think you had best relax and use this time. It will be busier, the days ahead.” He spoke. Calvin looked around the room with the other injuries present. The ship had a terrible boarding. All Federation Security and Tactical tutorials on Invasions, Primary, and Pattern; were stopgaps for something that could not be handled by Security as overwhelming the Klingons were.

“You did not have to come and fight with me. That was noble of you Lieutenant.” He offered a forced yet, semi-happy show of kindness on Calvin's part.

“There was nothing noble about it.” Isabelle smiled. “I just thought my senses would come in handy with sensing where the Klingons were. I definitely need to brush up on some of my self defence skills though.”

Calvin was concerned for the Lieutenant. “You took a Klingon daggar to your side chest.” He shook his head in disbelief. “It is a miracle you survived as you had Doctor Veran.” He offered.

As Isabelle had volunteered to attend the Klingon’s security breach, Calvin felt obliged to sit down beside her biobed, now that things had slowed down.

“I can't imagine how that would have hurt.” He then corrected. “I do understand how searing hot that pain can be.” He looked at Isabelle's Medical File. “I am happy you are starting to feel more comfortable now with the pain killers Lieutenant.” He added a soft smile.

"Yeah" She offered a wry smile. "They've got me on a nice high dose of pain killer at the moment, just while my body recovers from surgery. I'm surprised I'm not out of it, I feel almost as high as a kite!" She grinned.

Calvin was a security officer, drugs and their effects was something he rarely knew anything. He knew the standard federation trafficking narcotics and recreational approved ones. Him being a man of law did not partake. He enjoyed his ales.

Uncomfortably, he shifted his gaze around the room at anything. He was happy Isabelle was doing well. He just felt awkward. “We will Ms. Veran. When you need to come down, we're here Lt.” He replied with his hands at the sides of his waist, apprehensively. Here, in regards to the sickbay staff who was going to help him ensure she was ok coming down.

"Don't look so worried" Isabelle smiled. "I just meant that I'm not in any pain, the medical staff have been wonderful looking after me. This isn't my first encounter with pain meds." She didn't elaborate any further. "I take it the Klingons were all taken care of in the end?"

“We burnt their flea-infested behinds.” Lt. Kennedy spoke authoritatively when he remarked. “The tactical situation was a mess.” He shook his head. “I need a thorough studying of what went wrong and how we can do better, much better in the meantime.” He grumbled to his self. Things were never perfect. Any response to any boarding would have security in heads and tails.

“You did the best you could do given the situation.” Isabelle offered an understanding smile.

“Too many people were injured.” He looked at Isabelle as a failure on his part. He was there as her security, the ships security namely the Captains out of all. “There was a breakdown on the ship's sensors, left us scrambling.” He would need to find a way at ensuring sensors; onboard sensors were duplicate for security issues.

“I will bring my recommendations in the meantime to Captain Mei.” He then added.

“Perhaps you can spend time on the holodeck with me while I compile my report.” His only off time would be spent on a sunny beach, with a Budweiser beer in hand, and a PADD in the other. If safeties were off he would wear a pair of dark sunglasses, his sunscreen and hope to get a nice tan.

“I’d like that” Isabelle nodded. “It would help to have an extra set of eyes and ears if you need it. I can be your sounding board.” She smiled. “Plus it’ll be nice to relax in the holodeck while I recouperate.”

“My version of relaxation would do you well, Dr. Veran.” He offered a slight smile.

“In that case I can’t wait to see what your version of relaxation is!” She grinned.
